RTA's Recent Service Expansions The New Orleans RTA helps passengers take more than 19 million trips on our buses, streetcars and ferryboats every year, covering over 14,000 miles each day. To us, it’s more than just taking people from point A to point B. Every day, we help thousands of New Orleanians get to work, to school, to see their families, to get home and connect with one another. No matter what the stop, RTA gets New Orleans going. Because RTA is how New Orleans rolls. You can see the routes we offer here, along with all the stops and schedules for each route. You can also use our Trip Planner – just put in where you want to go and we’ll tell you the best routes to get there. We have invested $13 million in new bus service since 2014 including: More hours of service for better timing on transfers and connections. More express buses. More late night service for overnight workers. Doubled weekend bus service on 7 lines serving Gentilly, 9th Ward, NO East, Algiers. Expanded overnight service on 9 lines. Earlier service on 5 lines, to get downtown by 5:00 a.m. Extended 5 lines to serve downtown more directly, reducing travel times. New, 1st-ever express service from downtown to airport. We have also completed two major streetcar expansions since 2013: Loyola Avenue line in January 2013. North Rampart Avenue line in fall of 2016. More Detail on Our Service Enhancements In deciding on these service increases, RTA conducted many public meetings, workshops, and input sessions with neighborhood associations to listen to passengers and community members. We received invaluable feedback directly from many of our riders, which we appreciate!
