St. Claude and Elysian Fields Streetcar Extensions Study

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) is studying the impact of extending the streetcar along portions of St. Claude Avenue and Elysian Fields Avenue as an option to improve mobility options for riders. 

The study includes preliminary engineering, transit operations planning, public outreach, and environmental review.

Streetcar Extensions Being Studied

The study will look at the feasibility, benefits, and costs of extending the streetcar along two short segments:

  • Along St. Claude Avenue from Elysian Fields Avenue to near Press Street, and
  • Along Elysian Fields Avenue from the French Market Station to St. Claude Avenue

Below is a map detailing the potential extensions of the streetcar system.
